Well, well, well, if it isn’t another UX generalist.

But I’m so much more. I lead with intentionality and collaboration. I am deeply invested in product strategy shaped by user insight, brand integrity, and business outcomes. I am obsessive about iterative designs that solve short-term problems, but scale for long-term solutions.

TL;DR I’m pretty good at this.

My Hopes & Dreams

With the rise of AI and the hard pivot to product design as a dominant field, I want to future-proof my craft. My goal is to work with brands and teams who are excited and empowered to tread into the unknown, and come out the other side with bold, innovative products that set a new tone for user-centered design. So what’dya say?

What People Say About Me

“Kaycee is the most empathetic, thoughtful, and efficient User Experience Designer I have worked with. She is collaborative and creative, technically proficient, and human-centered in her approach to design. She is an expert in accessibility standards yet still goes above and beyond as an advocate for all audiences—her breadth of knowledge results from countless UX design projects and usability studies for Higher Education websites. We were part of the ultimate dream team of UX, Design, and Content Strategy at mStoner. I'd work with her again in a heartbeat in any industry.”

Ben Bilow

Creative Director

“Kaycee’s deliverables are some of the most thoughtful I’ve seen in my UX tenure over the past decade. She is incredibly creative and collaborative. For example, if the content team needs more components but the budget won’t allow it, she’ll work with dev to find creative solutions to increase the variants without increase the total number of components. This thought-process and solution takes an extraordinary amount of skill and experience to pull off.”

Lex Hade

AVP of Digital

"I had a wonderful experience working with Kaycee for 1.5 years. She has an intuitive sense for user-centric design, deep knowledge of heuristics and best practices, and a strong desire to learn and understand. As a teammate, she was a fantastic collaborator who created new frameworks that raised the quality of work for our entire team (while simultaneously producing great work). As a manager, she was a fierce defender and proponent of our UX team who always went out of her way to provide support for the members of her team. Given her rare combination of design talent, leadership skills, and dedication to excellence, I wholeheartedly recommend Kaycee for senior UX roles or UX leadership positions. Any organization would be fortunate to have her shaping their user experience strategies and nurturing their design teams."

UX & Product Design

I specialize in orchestrating cross-functional partnerships between product, engineering, and brand stakeholders to align design decisions with organizational OKRs. My approach extends to mentoring high-performing teams, fostering a culture of design excellence.

Design Systems & Wireframes

I craft design systems and pattern libraries for websites, establishing comprehensive guidelines, components, and patterns to ensure consistency and efficiency in web development and page building. I specialize in defining modules and layout principles to maintain content strategy and enhance user experience across all touchpoints. My approach empowers teams to build cohesive, scalable, and user-centric web experiences.

UX Audits

With a keen eye for detail, I’m skilled at evaluating sites for content, navigation, accessibility, and general UX best practices. Additionally, I am able to conduct and evaluate site scans to understand the breadth and depth of a website, as well as foundational SEO hygiene.

UX Research

I have extensive experience in various user research methodologies. This includes conducting and reporting on user interviews and focus groups, creating personas and journey maps, and running card sorting studies.

Information Architecture & Navigation Strategy

I have experience refining and optimizing information architecture for large and small-scale sites. Having managed sites of 80,000 pages, I am well-versed in creating intuitive and scalable solutions that prioritize user wayfinding, as well as long-term sustainability for site managers.

My Design Process

Problem Definition

Partner with PM, ENG, and stakeholders to align on user problem and clarify business goals. This often involves reviewing existing user journeys, support tickets, feedback channels, and data insights to ensure the design problem is well-framed.

Research & Discovery

Conduct internal and external research, including audits of current patterns, review of available UXR findings, competitor benchmarking, and a deep dive into relevant industry best practices (e.g., Baymard, NN/g).

Concepting

Depending on scope and maturity of the existing pattern, this may involve multiple low-fidelity ideas to be vetted with ENG and PM, or 1–2 higher-fidelity options to iterate on more quickly.

Iteration & Handoff

Share concepts with the core team and stakeholders, incorporate feedback, and refine until there’s alignment on a solution. From there, spec the final design for ENG.

Validation

Tailored to project scope. This may include usability testing, concept testing, or A/B testing. For blue-sky concepts, I will break down solutions into testable feature sets. For small incremental improvements, I may recommend shipping directly and validating through live usage.
